[Platt claims about money that it is] Intellectual level value. [Arlo] Money is a measure of social-level value. It has nothing to do with measuring intellectual-level ideas. Or are you suggesting that "Calculus" can be measured by how well it succeeds in the economic market?
[Platt] It is not immoral to force someone to support the police and military. [Arlo] AAAHHHHH..... but you claimed taxation was destructive of liberty. It appears you are now recanting and saying that taxation is fine, forcing other people to do something is fine,... so long as it supports programs you support. [Platt] As for parks and libraries, I have no problem donating money for those purposes, but taxed? No. [Arlo] If you think the only valid role of society is to stave off "biological forces", you miss all the other wonderful things social infrastructure brings us; free roads, open parks, fair access to information. But you are just, again, echoing a return to Victorianism. Police and military ueber-power, and the unrestricted dominance of a capistocracy. I get that. [Platt] You missed the point. Insulated and tenured professors at Duke presumed the students guilty before a trial by jury. Again, refer to Lila if you've forgotten the immorality of that. As for strange tangents, everybody keeps telling me here that everything is related. You disagree? [Arlo] I'm sorry, a lot of people, not just "insulated faculty" but many people across America presumed guilt before a verdict on that one. But this has nothing to do with the points at hand. If you are so eager to talk about the Duke case, start a thread. It was appalling, in my opinion, but its not the first time a crowd with torches has lynched someone before a fair legal proceeding. moq_discuss mailing list Listinfo, Unsubscribing etc. http://lists.moqtalk.org/listinfo.cgi/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org Archives: http://lists.moqtalk.org/pipermail/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org/ http://moq.org.uk/pipermail/moq_discuss_archive/
