"Nice" is a social quality. People of intellectual quality don't do certain things for reasons of their own, not the reasons of others. That is intellectual quality. Your self is your choice, and it may not be an easy choice, but doing things by nature (abdication of choice) is biological quality, doing things by convention (the choice of others) is social quality, and doing things by your own reasoned choice is intellectual quality because it involves the intellect in the construction of the self.
