I think what you are looking for is covered by "correr" - for
example if you want to translate such an expression as 'the ring
slides down the rope', which is what is envisaged in the special usage
of slide in the present connotation, you would express this by saying
el anillo corre por la cuerda

That is an interesting question. As a Spanish speaker, I often find
myself at a loss about how to translate technical terms used in
geometric morphometrics.
I think the best translation for "sliding" is "deslizantes", but I'm
also interested in the opinions of all the morphometricians.
