Maybe, in the end, we are asking the wrong question. Maybe it is more about
the teacher and what the teacher does with intrinsic and extrinsic rewards to
motivate, rather that intrinsic or extrinsic rewards as a whole.

We discuss AR over and over again...it seems like it works for some and not
others. Perhaps it is more about what ELSE is going on in the classroom...what
kind of messages are being sent about reading in school and also at home...

Over and over again, kids in my room learn to love reading when we start
using the comprehension strategies. It is the thinking while reading that many
learn to love...
Just a thought

That's my point. Some kids aren't going to just sit to read a novel, some
are. But we need to teacher them that reading is in every part of life, not
just reading novels.
