It goes beyond the act of reading....it's the joy of learning that the act of reading provides...no matter what they love individually, the act of reading can enhance their understanding of it.

And while it may be naïve, I still believe that if I model a love of reading - in what I do and what I say - students will catch on. Their love of reading may look different than mine, and it may only last for the one year they are with me, but I believe if I show them, they'll see what to do. They will see how reading gives me pleasure, and because they look up to me as their teacher - like most students do - they will want to enjoy that pleasure too. In spite of DRAs, RC points, Lexile lunacy, and crazy overscheduling, enthusiasm is contagious. _______________________________________________ Mosaic mailing list [email protected] To unsubscribe or modify your membership please go to http://literacyworkshop.org/mailman/options/mosaic_literacyworkshop.org.
