============= I love to use rhyming songs such as Down By the Bay. I have a few verses on chart paper that we sing together and then we make up our own verses. I start by giving them the first part such as "Have you ever seen a duck, driving a ______" and they fill in the rhyming word. After a while, I have them come up with their own verses and we illustrate them and make a class book. They love to read it and it reinforces the rhyming words. There is also A Hunting We Will Go. It goes "A hunting we will go, A hunting we will go. We'll catch a ____ and put him in a ____ and then we'll let him go. We've come up with great words to put in such as snake/lake, cat/hat, bear/chair, pig/wig, mouse/house, ape/cape, bug/mug, goat/boat etc. Good luck and have fun. Hello, I don't know how helpful this site will be for you and your students, but I created a website a few summers ago during a 2 week technology initiative at the state level integrating technology into our literacy lessons. It has a powerpoint you can use online or you can download and save on your computer when you want to reinforce the fab five. I chose to create an author study around America's favorite author Eric Carle for my Kinder kiddos and created lessons focused on the fabulous five: phonics, phonemic awareness (rhyming), vocabulary, comprehension and fluency. The site is: http://carleworks.tripod.com I hope you can use the powerpoint with your kids. Michele Polselli NBCT '06 Literacy Coordinator & K Teacher Portsmouth School Dept.
