This is something I wanted to do with my class last year, and my team teacher
nixed the idea! I wanted them to rewrite songs to reflect our unit on
nutrition. I was going to play some "Weird Al" songs (like "Eat It" and "Beat
It."). This year I am the sole member of the team, so I'm free to do as I will!
This will be one of my last units that will coincide with the end of the year
tests, so I think it will provide them with some relief from the stress! Thanks
for posting your message, you are giving me the courage to do what I believe is
right for my kids!

Tim (and I hope he'll excuse me, for jumping in here) can probably tell you
more about this...but I heard him advise teachers to have the kids write new
lyrics for known tunes!
