I'm so jealous! We have (for the first time!) a reading specialist (and no paras) that divides her time between 2 buildings with a total of approximately 1500 students. She is spread tooooo thin! For example, she sees five 3rd graders for 30 minutes twice a week. However, my (related) question is -- why is the focus at the intermediate grades? It seems like it's remedial work now, rather than preventative work that could be done with the primary kids. Is it a reaction to test scores?
