The Riverside (CA) County Office of Education has developed a blueprint for
writing for each of the grades 1-6 that matches what is taught in the Houghton
Mifflin reading series. It is quite comprehensive. Many schools in our
district are using it. The blueprint costs about $60/grade. The teachers at
our school think it is good. They prefer it over the 4-square.

Subject: Re: [MOSAIC] Writing programs & philosophy

Hello Fellow Teachers-
This is my first post. My teacher cohort is going to be looking for a
writing curriculum/program/philosophy that we can use with sequential
integrity and passion. Right now I have found that trait based writing
makes a lot of sense for my third graders mixed in with other resources and
approaches. We want to have consistency K-5 that will support successful
writing skills through middle school and beyond. What are your suggestions?
What programs would you recommend exploring in our curriculum travels?
Mahalo, Kristin
