Our state has that, too, but I think we are able to do this because we are a 
charter school. I was VERY vocal about not doing this with the primary kids 
before we started. It's not pretty. We've had an entire class "shut down" and 
refuse to move on. A few years ago, I had a 2nd grade student "flip out" and 
have to be removed. Parents demanded the testing, so we do it. Because it looks 
at different things than our state end of grade tests, we've found it valuable. 
Still, it's hard to know that our littlest students are affected so negatively.
