Kenneth,
I sure hope I didn't sound as if I was promoting NOT teaching phonics.  Far 
from it, in fact. I think their are lots of sound ways to systematically 
address phonics (we call it word study) and that it HAS to happen.  I can say 
that the traditional 'Plaid Phonics' approach (everybody does B today, doesn't 
matter if you can discriminate the auditory sound /b/, if you don/t speak 
English or if you entered school reading, today is for B) has not serves my 
population well.  I see the other side of the phonics coin and that is in high 
school our district has a group of underachieving readers in crisis who 
approach every word by sounding out, it is their only approach. I will be 
looking at your program.
