I'd strongly recommend Kathy Collins work, too - Reading for Real and Growing Readers. BUT MY #1 RECOMMENDATION WOULD BE DORN AND SOFFOS' TEACHING FOR DEEP COMPREHENSION. It's a small little book worth its weight in gold!!
