Hi Kendra, A lot of our K-2 teachers use Miller's Reading With Meaning for strategy instruction--in fact, I used it in 3rd, too. She breaks strategies into chunks which can be individual lessons. Many of our 3-5 teachers use Strategies That Work by Harvey & Goudvis. Great strategy lessons you can take straight from the text. And H&G also have The Comprehension Toolkit for nonfiction for older kids (4-5?).
