One of my advanced readers said to me the other day that she reads "better"
(less haltingly) when she reads in her head. This after she was reading aloud
to me the first Captain Underpants book in Spanish. Because she had read the
same book in Spanish she knew what was happening and could now concentrate on
learning new words in Spanish. Just another idea to put into the mix.

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched.
They must be felt within the heart.

I have seen a lot of evidence that often students who read
slowly and methodically with prosidy, rereading and thinking carefully,
are way better at comprehension than those who are trying to beat the egg
timer.
