Wow...my mind is racing in all sorts of directions as I read Chapter 1 & 2, and then scan through the posts already sent from others. First of all, I really liked the analogy of Road Kill presented in Chapter 1. Being a farmer and hunter's wife I totally can relate. I also was immediately convicted of times I have not used the best "word choice" to inspire the appropriate attitude in my students. Before the blog issued the challenge to read this book I had never read any of Peter Johnston's work. So now I find myself playing catch up and reading both "Choice Words" and Opening Minds at the same time. Talk about a double whammy of conviction. I have already started thinking more about the way I phrase statements to students. All was making perfect sense to me and then came chapter 2...now I need to spend a little more time thinking and rereading.
