I spent the afternoon walking the Taconite Trail between CR 61 and CR 325. For
the most part, it was pretty boring except for a few small flocks of
White-winged Crossbills. However, I had good looks at a flyby Northern Goshawk
heading northeast over a large forest opening to the east side of the Taconite
Trail, about 3/4 of a mile north of where it crosses CR 61 (west of Coleraine).
I haven't birded out here in a year, so I have no idea if this bird hangs
around the area or if it's a transient. Shawn Conrad
