Just a few spring birds to report from Carver County. At the Chevalle
neighborhood wetlands in Chaska, I found 1 Cackling Goose in with about 35
Canada Geese and a few Mallard. There were also 2 Killdeer and a couple
Red-winged Blackbirds. Most of the wetlands are still ice-covered. A brief
stop at Carver Park turned up a Song Sparrow, a low flying Turkey
Vulture(looked like it was coming down to feed or rest), and several more
Red-winged Blackbirds. I am fairly sure I saw a Tree Swallow in the park
perched on a powerline as I was driving by, but I wasn't able to stop due to
traffic behind me. Also as of Sunday, Common Redpolls were still coming to
feeders in Chaska.
