Just a quick note from Carver County today. In just under 6 hours at Rapids
Lake this morning, I was able to find 96 species including 4 flycatcher
species, 4 vireo species, Gray-cheeked and Swainson's Thrush, 20 warbler
species(including Prothonotary and Canada), 12 sparrow species(including an
unusually high number of Savannah Sparrow), and 6 Scarlet Tanager. Not
surprisingly waterfowl was lacking, and shorebirds were absent except for a
couple of Killdeer. After returning early yesterday morning, my neighborhood
Common Nighthawk was also out again early today.
