Another note from me today, as today was my first 100 species day at Rapids
Lake(101 including my early morning Common Nighthawk greeting me again).
Today's birds include 5 flycatcher species, 4 vireo species, all the expected
thrush species except Bluebird(no Bluebird yesterday too), 23 warbler species,
and 10 sparrow species. Birds present today but not yesterday were American
Bittern, Broad-winged Hawk, Pectoral Sandpiper, Solitary Sandpiper, Great
Horned Owl, Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Eastern Wood-Pewee, Philadelphia Vireo,
Veery, Wood Thrush, Mourning Warbler, Blackpoll Warbler, Black-throated Green
Warbler, and Eastern Meadowlark. There were no areas with large concentrations
of migrants though. Including summer residents there were high concentration
areas. For the 7 days of May 8-14, I have found 130 species.
