Why do you need/want WTL if you have XUL? Either you design your UI using WTL or using XUL, but I don't think they're gonna work together well at all.
Using VC7 with the mozilla build system is supported. You need a special copy of the wintools, search for "VC7" on the win32 build page:
So, if I understand you're points, you suggest using the existing apprunner/appshell to interface to the native main() and windowing system required to start the application and house the XUL windows.
I would like to ask, is anyone actually using the VC7 IDE to develop firefox model based applications (I am not talking about embedded model applications). If you are not using VC7, what debugging IDE do you use?
What would you suggest?
I did a search for cygwin/mingw gcc frontends and found Dev C++ but it is also "project file" based without, from what I could find, a way to load or use autoconf built makefiles.
