As much I like the functionality of the browser, i ask myself why the
development team has choosen a design that needs that much \
ressources.
In my understanding it is a contradiction to have a fast and nice
Gecko rendering engine, and a horribly heavy GUI around it.

I don't know about the internals of Mozilla. Is it really the GUI that
is so heavy? Is it so heavy because they wanted it to be controllable
by scripts, enabling different skins, behaviours etc?

Who does need such features other than marketing dept?
Especially if they cost so many ressources.

I hope that someone skilled will write a normal lean GUI aound gecko
one day. Is this realistic?

On my 64meg RAM, 400MHz Laptop, Mozilla is not usable, much patience
is needed when working with it, especially if other applics are open.

I agree that modern software should make use of hardware power
enhancements. However, software should not waste those ressources just
for a few gimmicks. I expect new software that eats up many
ressources to offer really powerful new features.

At Mozilla can't see those features justifying the immense ressource
hunger..

I use Netscape since version 1.2, but it may time to quit the boat :-(

Maybe I understand everything wrong...
