There's no "obligation". There is common courteousy of at least
acknowledging a question and giving a simple answer.
Could be:
We are sorry, but due to lack of support for, or lack of qualified
people to create such at this time, thre can't be any support for "X
version. (X being Mac, PC, Unix, BEOS, Next Step, Open Step, etc.).
I one fellow send personal note about same subject. He suggested he
looked into it but Hardware, software cost made it impractical. That's
his opinion. although he did at least give one. I respect him for it,
because he took the time to express one one way or another.
