that's a really good point.
A normal mozilla session looks like this for me:
I start my internet session with receiving and writing e-mails, then 
reading and writing usenet messages and after this I start the navigator 
and close Mail/News. And it is really a pain if I surf an hour or two 
and mozilla crashes rendering a webpage, since after this the unread 
messages counts for the newsgroups and mail folders often are wrong.
It would be much better if mozilla writes all mail/news related files to 
disk and closes them when closing mail/news but still having navigator - 
or composer - windows open.
