Okay maybe the Ratios are are off.
But until Build 2001052112 (mac) Threading of ..., and Hiding of
Messages hasn't worked. They work now in that build. OTOH the devider
bar between the message pane and subject pane use to be adjustable. It
no longer is. It shows ten titles I use to adjust to show just three (in
fact it's not even clickable to show just titles. neither is the
sidebar. you drag the sidebar pane to close it. (can't drag the
message/subject bar)
I have had a RFE Bug for the Location toolbar to return to Mail & news,
in two pane mode (I have a small monitor and need all the screen real
estate I can use. (as it used in Communicator for Mail and News). I may
be mistaken but believe the bug is approaching a year old or will in
late summer. about once or twice a month (or two) I get bugzilla stuff
about it. Usually its mostly comments about the pros and cons of
implementing it. yet no action appears to be happening just mostly comments.
Yet there have been tremendous changes in the web browsers. although
Liveupdate won't work and you can't use (most) Netscape plugins, nor can
you add them or set them up as in Communicator. But webpages come on
the screen somewhat faster than Communicator. Lot of sites that used
sound that worked on Communicator don't now. Bluemountain didn't for a
long time.
Frankly for me the Mail and news is far and away more important to me
than the Browser. I go to websites mostly to update software. I can do
that with Anarchie (an Ftp Client). There are webites I visit related
to the Associations I belong to; but the way they are currently, written
Communicator in its current form is more than adaquate to see them.
So when I open each succesive MOZ nightly I download in the hope they
have finally gotten Mail & News to work., I compare it to the way it
works in Communicator I am sorely disappointed each time.
Yes! Mail & News should have as an equally effort as the Browser. Its
just as important. It's what Netscape Communicator caused Devotee's to
be as devoted as they are. If the Mail & News Client didn't work as good
as it does in Communicator, Who knows I might not know about Mozilla as
I might hve been an AOL devotee, or Eudora person or possibly even OE
(Yuck forget I said that about OE?Entorage, that would be like dancing
with the devil :-) ).
