You cannot sell the software itself. You can sell software that runs with/on
GPLed software, but the software itself must be 100% cost free and restriction
free. That's the nature of the GPL.

Amazon has been in business a while too and they haven't made a dime. Profit and
staying in business are 2 different things. Just ask the USPS.

No, that's fine too. I like their OS's, just not some of their choices with some
aspects of said OS's.

Are you saying that knowledge (which can be gained by learning, which can cost
money) is without monetary value? I think teachers would disagree. Are you also
saying that TIME is without monetary value? I think every single person who
charges by the hour (myself included) would also disagree. And unlike wood, you
can't go to the store and buy more time.
