I like this idea too. In fact, some of the entries on my list were aimed
at getting an approximation of this - "apply filter to outgoing
messages" for example - but your way is even better.
Currently I don't file sent messages anywhere, but Bcc them to myself,
so that they get caught by filters and put in the right place. This has
the disadvantage of causing them to appear unread, though. With all the
proposed features, I would have a number of different ways of doing what
I want to do - which is great, IMHO... everyone has slightly different
requirements.
Another feature I would like, which is *definitely* not quite a filter
issue but is vaguely related, would be a "default address" for each
folder. Currently there is a distinct UI difference between folders and
newsgroups - if you hit "new message" in a newsgroup, the message is
automatically sent to that group, but if you hit "new message" anywhere
else the To: field is empty. I would like to be able to make my
"debian_user" folder default the To: field to contain
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]", and the folder where I file all my email
to and from my wife to default to her email address.
