I do pretty much the same, except I simply shadow different versions 
of Mozilla.exe onto the desktop and run them from there.  There hasn't
been any need to specify PATH or LIBPATH  or MOZILLA_HOME entries 
since the Mozilla apparently installs in a predetermined tree.  Also, 
I prefer not to add PATH or LIBPATH or SET entries to my config.sys 
unless absolutely necessary.
