I did post a reply, but I don't see it here.
It's the VACPP version that I was trying to use. But someone pointed out
to me that there have been reports of problems when xWorkPlace's xCenter
is running, so I disabled it, after which I found that Mozilla 0.9.3
worked fine -- and continued to work fine even when I reactivated
xCenter. Perhaps xCenter interferes only with the initial invocation of
Mozilla.
