Yeah - an mp3 encoder for a cluster would be lovely. The first step would
be separating the encoder to run multi-threaded. Can anyone with better
knowledge of the internals of 8hz-mp3 than me respond whether there's a
chance to do that?
It may prove to be quite hard, since many functions use values from previous frame,
the structure of program is something like
Init
Loop
Read frame
Polyphase filter
Psy
Mdct
Iteration
Write frame
End loop
>From these at least polyphase and psy use previous values
