I would vote for creating a LAME api plug-in shared object/library architecture
that if necessary can be plugged into other programs, such as grip, ice, etc.
etc. Providing a sample cli wrapper to make it a stand alone program could
function as sample code and as a functional tool.
Now if we could have sox, mpg123, id3tag,cddb libraries and each project
concentrate on those, these pieces could be linked into GUI apps or anywhere
else for that matter.
