Let that be their problem. I think security should prevail over some
people's convenience. Besides, these members can unsubscribe and then
subscribe again from their new e-mail address any time so this should be no
real problem. At least intentionally malevolent e-mails could be eliminated
if only members were allowed to post to the list.

Have you considered generally blocking attachments? Alternatively, you could
block all attachment types but archives. Archive files or their contents
won't execute automatically so the recipient would always have the option to
check the attachment prior to executing it.
