I am strongly against disallowing postings from non-subscribers :
 - it is an annoyance to legal users who post from different address
 - mail addresses can be forged with ease anyway
 - spam can be dealt with with other means

Anti spam ideas :

 - allow only plain text messages, this will kill 99.9 % of spam ( I guesstimate :-)
  - also limit the mail size to 10k or so ( as you already did )
  - having larger mails ( with attachments ) only waste bandwith for all, since only
a few people are interested in the files posted. If someone wants to exchange
files,
do it in private ( over mail, ftp or whatever )
