It should, we didn't have any code in there which tells your OS to shut
down the internet connection. If the OS does it, you maybe are stumbled
over a bug in your OS or a driver or something like this (really, we
just tell the computer to calculate some numbers).

Do you have any ServicePack installed? If not, can you please use the
"Windows update" feature, update your system with the latest bug (and
security) fixes and tell us if the bug is still present?

To me it seems it's not only "lame" it's "lame+eac". Can you please have
a look at another frontend for lame, e.g. WinLAME or RazorLAME (or even
the lame.exe at the commandline, e.g. "lame V0 -b160 -mj --athlower 5
-f input.wav output.mp3" )?
