Well, I finally answered the mayor's poll last night (answers: yes, I'll be
at the endorsing convention May 5; undecided; affordable housing and - just
to make 'em nervous - airport noise, though they didn't offer the choice of
"avoid ridiculous subsidy/debt.")

Anyway, I did ask the very nice, very young-sounding survey person where she
was calling from. (She did get the candidate names right.) She replied, "St.
Cloud," so not out-of-state, but definitely out-of-town. And therefore,
almost certainly paid...though I suspect Sharon won't be the only candidate
shelling out for phoning this cycle.

What, aren't there students who need polling jobs here? Maybe Her Honor's
doing her part for Minneapolis's labor shortage...

PS Anyone have a guest list from the Mayor's Feb. 15 fundraiser? I'd love to
start a "fundraiser watch" where people funnel names and list members i.d.
who they are. (Important note: I want to do this for ALL campaigns.) Problem
is, I want to uphold the rule that forbids passing on anonymous/unattributed
info to the list. But anyone who doesn't mind putting his or her name to a
who-was-there, PLEASE consider this an invitation.

One situation might offer a good start: campaigns often list co-sponsors on
their fundraising invites, which I guess is public (or at least publicly
disclosed) info. Regardless of what you think of campaign finance donation
limits, etc., it's important to know who's funding our democracy.
