Is this a rhetorical question? Yes, I spoke with "The readers representative
" Lou Gelfand yesterday. The issue was why the paper didn't report the
results of the Green Party endorsements on April 7. Yesterday I also asked
why there was no mention of this exclusion in the Sunday excuse column that
Lou Gelfand writes. As a candidate for The Park and Recreation Board and as
an interested citizen I wanted to know what the policy is for election
coverage.
Lou Gelfand told me yesterday {that after he did research}that the reason
that there was no mention of the Green Party endorsements was that the paper
has a policy of not covering the Park Board Elections.?????? "We only cover
city council and the Mayor's race."
I have two problems with this.....
1. What a moronic policy. The readers of the paper care about what happens in
the park system. Minneapolis folks love their parks. They can't sell papers
if they talk about Park Board Candidates and park issues? There is an
official policy to provide no information about library board candidates,
school board, board of estimate.
2. Mark Knapp is running in the city council race for Ward 10.  I told Lou
Gelfand that if your going to cover city council races shouldn't Mark Knapp
be included. He said in his research that didn't come up. He would check into
it and get back to me.

I see that in today's paper on page B-9 there is an article about the Green
Party endorsing Mark Knapp and about who else is running. As per Star Tribune
policy, no mention was made of endorsed Park Board candidates.  Thanks, Scott
