I can't speak for Minneapolis Republicans but I personally do not favor
putting both Minneapolis and St Paul in one district. I think it's helpful
to have two urban congressional districts.
I doubt this plan will be the one that finally gets through. The Governor
and the Senate DFLers still have to put forth their plans.
I would like to see more competitive districts (I'd like to see Marty Sabo
work harder to get reelected).
At the same time, part of the reason that Senate Republicans come up with a
plan that dilutes Minneapolis's influence with the congressional delegation
is because Minneapolis doesn't seem to elect Republicans. If we had even
one Minneapolis Senate Republican at the table, would the same plan be
proposed?
