[TB] Many Republican moderates have spent a tremendous amount of time
insuring that the Minneapolis party isn't controlled by the extremists you
find elsewhere. On a statewide basis the party is rather anti-Minneapolis
which hasn't helped the party in Minneapols. At the 1998 state convention,
held at Target Center, then State Chair Bill Cooper was talking from the
podium about how one put their life at risk when they walked out the door.
I looked over at my friend and neighbor Mary Doty and asked her how she was
getting home that night. Mary, as was I, was planning on walking. But then
no one has ever accused Cooper of having a clue.

The state party also ignores Minneapolis when doing voter id/GOTV work that
they do everywhere else in the state. They haven't figured out that
increasing Minneapolis by 10 pts makes a big difference in a statewide race,
plus makes it much easier to recruit candidates if it is known that at least
some support will be provided.
