As I was walking to the library today, ruminating on
NRP, city and regional planning, citizen activism,
political accountability, communication etc,
processing information from a book I just finished,
this occurred to me.

Why aren't town meetings a regular part of municipal
politics and governance. Then I thought: There are
thirteen wards in the city and one Mayor. It should be
relatively easy to schedule a town meeting every four
weeks in each ward with the Mayor and the
councilperson.

Maybe the candidates for Mayor and City Council could
respond to this idea.

If I say so myself, I think it's inspired. Wonder why
nobody has suggested it before instead of making vague
promises "to listen to the people"?
