Julie, funny you should mention this. On Sunday morning, I went out the
back door of my S. Minneapolis abode and noticed a pile of feathers
blasted all over the driveway. Sitting on top of it was an incredibly
regal bird-of-prey, with white-and-brown feathers.
At first I wondered if it was a peregrine falcon, but a birder friend of
mine identified it as a Sharpshen (sp?) hawk. Apparently, they are
migrating right now. The hawk was one of the most memorable natural
sights I've seen in awhile.
By the way, Sharpshens used to be called sparrow hawks, but got a more
buff name.
The list is about more than politics...too little city nature, in fact.
