I'm disappointed to see that certain DFL Central Committee members
(including some friends of mine) saw fit to demand that a non-routine
meeting of the Committee be called (between Christmas and New Years!) to
protest the appointment of a non-DFL'er to a City Council committee
chairpersonship.

This shows: 1) a disdain for the non-partisan local election process, 2)
a failure to accept the City DFL's poor track record in getting its
initially endorsed 2001 candidates elected (I can think of 5 out of 13
failures this year), and 3) a presumption to impose their DFL insider
judgement on our newly elected City Council members and their
soon-to-be-elected President.

This special meeting call demonstrates why many in this city voted this
year for change from the one-party, insider-dominated city politics of
the past.

Vive la change.
