"Sloppily" in a legalese sense maybe. When I went to the polls last November I expected that the people I voted for would serve four year terms; if I had know that the terms would have been two years my voting decsions might have changed. I certainly didn't expect that the legislature would intervene and change the length of time council members would serve. The honest and straight forward way to update the election codes is to let voters know what's happening before they go to the polls, not after. > It is accurate to say that holding an earlier election is not what the > voters expected when they elected candidates for a supposedly four-year > term. This argument does not address the possibility that early elections may be more advantageous for the DFL than for the Greens. Democrats cried and cried about how the Presidential election was stolen, but here they are willing to play the same kind of political games in Minneapolis. The DFL doesn't understand how transparent such actions are and how they themselves have contributed to the rise of the Green party and Mr. Ventura.
