Target."

B.L:

Thanks Connie. You are right on in your assessment. I
don't have anything against Target. I shop at both
the Lake Street and the Downtown store in addition to
K-Mart and Walmart.

I just want a choice and don't want to be held hostage
by one retailer. Competition is the buyers best
friend.

I agree with the statements John made when he said
that the giant low cost retailers drive out local
small businesses. K-Mart and it's current
configuration is excellent proof of that. But, the
damage was done in the 70's.

Whittier has mitigated some of that damage by
reinventing Nicollet as a new kind of commercial
corridor. The "Eat Street" concept has been highly
successful. South Nicollet has also reinventing itself
to some degree and volunteers are actively continuing
to work on redeveloping South Nicollet all the way to
crosstown.

Re-opening Nicollet will mitigate a great deal more of
the damage and will allow the business districts on
North and South to be reconnected making it one
contiguous commercial corridor. It will be fun to
watch.

I believe that a low cost retailer can fit in the mix
of businesses very successfully. I also believe that
both the Nicollet at Lake and Chicago at Lake
locations are great candidates for a business of this
type.
