Mayor Rybak,
It's a great idea to more "aggressively promote" our parks and trails
period. All sports would benefit.
Last year during the citywide development of a 5year bike plan, I
don't remember any mention of "off-road" bike trails. Are their other
neighborhoods, other than the Wirth park area, that may have wanted to
included that into their plans?
Wirth Park may be an excellent place for off-road biking events but the
Northwest Minneapolis neighborhood of LindBohanon also has a great
opportunity for neighborhood families. This is one of the few neighborhoods
where residents can within the city and within their own neighborhood, bike,
or walk along the naturally preserved banks of the Mississippi River. Yet
even after living here several years many aren't aware of this asset because
the entrances are so obscure or in such disrepair.
This "on-road" biking enthusiasts would love to see the City and the
Park Board use their dollars more wisely and responsibly to "aggressively"
promote bike trails and events overall. The City's newest park asset of the
North Mississippi Regional Park, Bike Path, and Interpretive Center , (that
will have it's grand opening this spring), and Shingle Creek's Grand Round
biking experience could only benefit.
