I attended the Commission hearing last night and while some community members did brave the elements and attend , many did not. I want to thank the Commissioners for continuing to reach out as well as extending the invitations to neighborhood associations. This exhibits a willingness to obtain as much diverse input as possible. There was a request made by the Civil Rights director Vanne Owens Hayes for the commissioners to give questions in advance so that concerned community members may be more prepared with knowledgable and succinct answers. So I'm thanking the commission in advance for honoring that request. I hope that more people will participate in this important process. andrea jenkins Bryant

Surprisingly, many community members also found their way through the snow to participate. Since we have no idea how many people couldn't come, it was decided to remail the list for a public hearing on March 21. We also added to that list neighborhood groups and business associations. The hearing will be at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, March 21, in the City Council chambers, Room 317, City Hall. I wanted to give the neighborhood associations advance notice that they will be receiving an invitation, but hope many of you will be able to attend. This is your opportunity to express your feelings about how the Ward lines are drawn and the impact of those lines on your neighborhood.
