I live in Seward and drive to downtown Mpls every
day on the exquisitely beautiful newly-developed West River Road. And I
drive (and also walk) along East and West River Road all the time. I was
constantly being tailgated or even passed by cars as I drove along at perhaps
one or two miles over the speed limit.
Last fall I put together a home-made sign which I
have placed in my rear window. It says, in very large letters,
River Road 25 MPH
You would be surprised how many cars come speeding
up in back of me. But then they seem to read the sign, because they almost
always back way off, slow down and maintain a respectful distance. They
get the message. (Or maybe they think I'm some crackpot, and they need to
stay away from me.)
Often people need reminding. Put a sign in
your car! We could use some more signs along the parkways
too.
