There's word on the street of considerable controversy surrounding
Michael Hohmann's call of an ice out, or the so-called Hohmann Report.
I'm hearing this from key folks within the Green Party. Here's the
scoop: the day before the Hohmann Report, at least three representatives
of the DFL party, along with two unidenitified redistricting
commissioners, were seen at Lake Calhoun shoving "boatloads" (my
source's word, not mine) of ice into the lake, in an apparent attempt to
skew the ice out call. I called Carbonic Machines, Inc., a local
ice-maker, and Ted Olson from that company confirmed that two "wonkish"
types had bought 3 1/2 tons of "recovered ice" from Carbonic earlier in
the day and hauled it off in a cement mixer.

Apparently, "recovered ice" is the ice local restaurants and even
hospitals use to chill certain things--from fresh fruit or fish to
various body parts--Carbonic and other companies apparently recover this
ice and reuse it for unknown "industrial purposes." Though I have not
confirmed it, recovered ice may contain trace amounts of chlamydium,
apparently a bio-hazard (not sure what the subtance or hazard is), which
apparently is now in Lake Calhoun.

It gets worse. I'm told that Michael Hohmann also has a controlling
interest in the Anheuser Busch brewing company--more accurately, he
controls a subsidiary that produces Killian's Red. Folks apparently
wanted the ice out call for April 14, 2002, because it would involve a
winner who favors Killian's over more local brews. Apparently, the DFL
party insiders all drink Grain Belt, which figures, but which does not
explain the escapade of the DFLers and the redistricting folks. Now,
both IRs and DFLers are questioning the Hohmann Report, and I'm told
Annie Young is caught in the middle. Yikes.

Obviously, the DFL attempt to fool folks into believing that the ice out
was April 14, 2002, and not on April 13, 2002, is quickly unraveling.
Personally, I'm outraged. If anyone else has any other information,
please pass it on. I'm off to pursue the chlamydium angle.

Heh, heh,
