Arriving home tonight after enjoying a great evening under the stars, great
neighbors, cool breezes, no bugs and cold refreshments... OK, ice cold
Becks, I was surprised to read Gregory Luce's earlier post regarding the
'Hohmann Controversy.'

First off, I disavow any knowledge of any attempts by anyone to skew the ice
out date in Lake Calhoun via use of massive quantities of 'recovered ice.'
And let it be known that I haven't used, operated or touched a cement mixer
in over 30 years, although I've worked with pre-mix more recently.

Secondly, although I enjoy Budweiser, I have no material interest in either
Anheuser Busch or Killian Red. However, after running around in a coat and
tie and long sleeved shirt most of today, that position may change in the
near future. On a related note, I think today's weather adds weight to the
global warming evidence pile.

As to the innuendo concerning political party or redistricting folk's beer
preferences and any direct or indirect link to favoritism over local brews,
or influence in any way involving the alleged and aforementioned 'recovered
ice' scam, I again plead ignorance.

Regarding the 'Hohmann Report' (so dubbed by Annie Young), let it be known
that I simply reported my observations of ice conditions on Lake Calhoun
early on the evening of April 14th-- period. Annie, busy as she was,
admitted missing the event; and who knows what, if anything, the official
MPRB ice-out observers witnessed. I hope Annie, Gregory (and any other list
members) will join us (members of the ice-out pool) for the ice-out
extravaganza currently being organized by Barbara Nelson, who instigated
this event in the first place. And while I'm at it I should note that both
Annie and I enjoy good blues and honky-tonk as well as cold beer-- something
to consider logistically, Barbara. The time/location will be posted.

And, lastly-- Gregory, please keep me posted on your research on the
'chlamydium angle'... could the chlamydia trachomatis bacteria survive in
current ice-cold Lake Calhoun waters? How about in late-summer?

It's way too late and I'm scheduled for a 6 a.m. walk around Lake Calhoun in
a few hours. Night all!
