I can't speak to the ice out issue directly. I wasn't there. My predicted
date has yet to arrive, which is fine because I ultimately did not want to
win (I hate to think of the responsibility that comes with winning such a
contest ribbon cuttings (how many on Block E alone?!), radio appearances,
donating chewed gum for memorabilia auctions, having your likeness carved in
butter, and so forth).

However, I have inside scoop on the weather difference.

Actually, the reason it is warmer in St. Paul than Mpls is not the addition
of ice to Lakes Calhoun and Harriet, but rather, an aide of hizzoner Randy
Kelly has been paid to hold a lit punk to the official St. Paul thermostat
just before the top of each hour in an effort to increase the official St.
Paul temperature proving that St. Paul is the superior weather Twin City
and thus providing one more reason why it is the better place for a new open
air Twins' ballpark.

On a side note, rumor has it that Killians will not be served at a St. Paul
ballyard, but Schell's Pilsner and Pete's Wicked Ale (where's Buckhorn when
you really need it?) will actually be available in individual "honor bars"
(in the club seating areas), along with Old Dutch caramel corn and Mr. D's
ribs.
