Can you verify or refute for me an assumption I've been making all along? I assume that since the registration system has a bike's serial number as well as the owner's information, it therefore doesn't matter whether the thief removed the registration sticker from the bike. Police can still identify the rightful owner and return the bicycle to her based on the bike serial number. Is that true, or is the system only useful if the registration sticker is intact? If the sticker is required for the lookup (and I'm guessing it's not), then I admonish whoever designed that database. If the sticker is not required, then I am curious as to why owners are required to affix it in the first place?
