I was there, and it was quite a sight: Roger Moe marching alongside the
Minneapolitans who let their freak flags fly at MayDay....well, it was
harder to tell who was more freakish: the usual M-D masked marchers or a
guy who favors monogrammed shirts.

Anyway, AP writer Patrick Howe aptly captures the differing levels of,
shall we say, enthusiasm for the newly crowned DFL nominee versus the
Green's own Ken Pentel...it was sorta like a home game for Ken.
(Councilmember Dean Zimmermann had the quip of the afternoon: "Vote Moe
for the status quo.")

I also couldn't help wondering, watching the parade of pols: would Wes
Skoglund move up to SD 62 Senate to avoid a rematch with Holle Brian? I
know Wes won handily the first time, but I'm thinking that Jean Wagenius
gives the DFLers a better chance to fend off the Greens because she's
more to the left...then again, Jean represents less of what is now 62B
in her current 63A seat...

I saw Holle but I didn't see Wes or Jean's campaign...which seemed weird
considering the parade is close enough to SD 62...and I did see SD 60
candidate Scott Dibble's campaign represented. Maybe I missed Wes's and
Jean's campaign presence though, since I was corralling a 4 1/2-year-old
and a two-year-old...
